The brief
An eighth birthday on a villa lawn. Violetta wanted Wednesday — and at eight, that means she wants it done properly, not softened into a pastel version of itself. Black, purple, bats, and no cartoon smiling anywhere.
What we built
The full Nevermore treatment. A haunted house cut out in black against pale lilac with lit yellow windows, bats across it, Thing crawling up one side, and <i>VIOLETTA 8 YEARS</i> across the top in the show's own lettering. A spider-web board with a dripping purple eight, the school crest, and a black-and-white striped panel behind it. The balloon garland ran lilac, deep purple, black and chrome silver, with one clear note of pink in it. The cake was lilac, set with silver spheres and hand-iced gingerbread.
How the day went
Face paint and glitter first, and it was not the usual butterfly — the girls came away with proper Addams eyes, gems on the forehead, and not one of them let it be washed off. Then a host on the lawn: a dance learned line by line, and a limbo run under a black ribbon that dropped every pass, in full costume and bare feet. The family corgi was lifted onto the plinth for the group photograph, which is the frame the parents kept.
What the parents got
A theme their daughter had asked for exactly, and got exactly, at an age where she notices the difference. A set that photographs like a production still. And an afternoon they spent watching it rather than running it.
